In association with the Department of American Studies of the University of Graz, Austria’s Young Americanists cordially invite postgraduate students from all around Europe to participate in the second International Grad School Retreat “Landscapes of Postmodernity: Concepts and Paradigms of Critical Theory“ with Dr. Michael Rozendal, University of San Francisco, USA.
The objective of this year’s retreat is to provide an international forum for postgraduate students and experts to explore and discuss key concepts as applied in postmodern theory and/or literary criticism. The specific key concepts covered can include, but are not limited to, the following: Baudrillard “Simulacra,” Derrida “Deconstruction,” Kristeva “Abjection,” Deleuze and Guattari “Rhizome,” Spivak “Subaltern,” Lyotard “Metanarratives,” Bhabha “Third Space,” Bakhtin “Dialogism,” Lacan “Mirror Stage,” Harvey “Time-Space Compression,” etc.
