The United States is in the midst of a presidential election campaign. The leading candidates for both the Democrats and Republicans have expressed reservations about new trade agreements. Are these stances merely a part of electioneering or do they represent a major change of sentiment on the part of U.S. political leaders and Americans in general? How may the EU and the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership be affected by this election year in the United States?
