"TRANSMEDIATING AFRO-FUTURISM:

Janelle Monáe's Dirty Computer across Media"

For many years, Janelle Monáe has worked on the construction of an elaborate science fiction storyworld through her concept albums, music videos, stage performances, and interviews. Her most recent project Dirty Computer deviates from this course while at the same time strengthening her commitment to work that explores new directions for neo-Afrofuturism, transmedia storytelling, and musical activism.
